The Halifax County High School girls’ varsity soccer team continues to show measureable progress against the upper echelon teams in the Western Valley District.

Unfortunately for the Comets, that doesn’t necessarily translate into wins.

The Comets played well in a 6-2 loss to PH-Roanoke Tuesday in South Boston.

HCHS got its first score and held the lead for about 15 minutes before PH broke through to score. PH extended its lead to 2-1 in the first half, and the visitors added four goals in the second half.

HCHS got its final goal from Lucy Morrison.

Coach Sid Young sees a very competitive effort and major improvement from the Comets.

Halifax is 7-5-1, and the Comets are tied for third with GW at the moment.

Halifax has three matches left in the regular season.

JAYVEE REPORT: The Comet girls jayvee soccer team also had a competitive effort, losing 2-0 to PH.
