Lion golf team falls short Monday
SoVaNow.com / September 19, 2013The HCMS golf team fell a bit short Monday in head to head play, but coach Charles Payne remains upbeat about the Lions. Payne noted, “We started the year with not the (overall level of player) experience that I’ve had in Middle School golf. I made the statement at the first of the (season) if we could shoot an average of 200, I would be pleased.” The Lions have exceeded that, including a round of 184 Monday. “We’re doing about all we can do, with the experience we have. The program is sound,” said Payne, as the Lion program has bolstered the high school team in recent season.
HCHS lost in a close match, as Central had an 182 at Greens Folly. Lance Chappell had a 42, and Kassidy Irby fired a 44. Willoughly Gasperini and Cori Neal had rounds of 49.
