Lady Barons go 1-1 in Conference 34 play

The Bluestone Lady Barons won their Conference 34 quarterfinal game at home versus the Greensville Lady Eagles, 52-46, before falling to the Brunswick Lady Bulldogs 71-14 in the championship game on Thursday.

Brunswick is a favorite to win the girl’s 2-A state title.

Despite the loss Thursday, however, the Lady Barons moved on to regional competition last night (Tuesday) after taking a third place season finish in the conference quarterfinals.

In the game against Greensville, the Lady Barons scored 10 points in the first, 14 points in the second, nine points in the third and 19 points in the final period.

Bluestone held Greensville to eight points in the first and second quarters, 11 points in the third and 19 points in the final period.

Bluestone’s Alexis Walton led her team with 19 points. Kelsey Thornton added 12 points for the Lady Barons.

The Bluestone girls were set to contend this week in regional play. The #4 seed Lady Barons had a first round game against Nandua, the #1 seed out of Conference 33, last night (Tuesday) on the Eastern Shore.
