Jayvees repelled in opener
SoVaNow.com / November 29, 2012The Halifax County High School jayvee boys’ basketball team suffered a tough 58-41 loss to Glass Tuesday night.
Glass surged to an early lead, holding an 17-8 advantage in the first period. Glass matched its first quarter output with a 17-point second period.
Halifax trailed 34-17 at halftime.
Glass got strong production from two players, T. Jeter (22 points) and T. Jones (13) and repelled the Comets. Halifax got eight points from Markee Thomas, eight from Nick Jones, including six in the final period; ten from Rymel Hill, and four from Kion Tucker.
“The guys came out with good energy, a lot of turnovers. We’ve got to take care of the basketball,” said coach Nathan Lantor, whose Comets had 29 turnovers.
“We played decent defense. We’ve got to move better. We’re in the zone, and missed a lot of easy opportunities for layups. We’ve got to improve,” said Lantor.
The Comets go to Person County tomorrow night.
