The Halifax County High School volleyball team opened with a win over Person County in its season opener Tuesday.

HCHS dropped the opening game, 25-22, before rallying with wins in the next two games to seal the match. HCHS won, 25-21, and then 15-10.

Kirsten Doss had two aces, with two good saves, and two service points. Kennedy Dyer had one good serve, one service point, while Heather Griles had three attacks and three good passes.

Laurel Jennings had four good serves, three service points, three attacks and two good passes.

MacKenzie Lawter had an outstanding game for the Comets. She had a pair of aces, six good serves, six service points and five good sets.

Christy McFadden had two aces, two good serves, three service points, four kills and six attacks.

Amber Moore supplied three aces, one good serve, two service points and eight good sets.

Denia Rauls had had one ace, four good serves, two service points, four kills, four attacks and four good passes.

Rose Spainhour had two aces, five good serves, one kill, two attacks, and a good pass. Haley Wooding had one ace, three good serves, two service points, three attacks and three good passes.

The Comets travel to Park View tonight.
