Dragons wallop Greensville

SoVaNow.com / April 24, 2013
The Park View varsity baseball team is chasing first place in the Southside District and the Dragons helped their chances with a 12-3 win over Greensville last week. The Park View boys also lost to a Richmond Home School team last week, but that was in a non-district contest.

Park View’s Cody Reed pitched a great game against Greensville and the Dragon de-fense tightened up after some recent subpar outings, said head coach Mike Greene.

The Dragons lost their second contest of the week to the Richmond-area homeschool team.

Jared Jordan pitched a three-hitter through the first five innings but the Dragons fell behind, 4-2. The homeschool team scored several runs in the later innings and the score in the bottom of the seventh inning was 8-2.

The Dragons scored three runs to mount a comeback, but it wasn’t enough to compensate for their lack of offense earlier in the contest as they lost 8-5.

The Dragons were set to face off against Southside District rival Prince Edward yesterday (Tuesday) and will play Southampton on Thursday in their bid for first place in the league.
