Willie Lewis Crute was born Jan. 30, 1941. He was the beloved son of Henry Lewis and Pinkie Crute.

After an extended illness, he entered eternal rest on May 15, 2013 while at Halifax Regional Hospital.

Willie was a 1960 graduate of West End High School. He joined New Hope Baptist Church in Boydton, at an early age. In later years, he moved his membership to St. Taylor RZUA Church, also in Boydton. He was a faithful member and servant until his health started to decline. Early in his tenure, he served as superintendent of the Sunday School and treasurer for many years.
