Paul Mark Steube

Paul Mark Steube of South Boston died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center. He was born in Halifax County on June 1, 1941 and was 71 at the time of his death. He was the son of the late William Ernest Steube and the late Ruth Earl Overstreet Steube and was married to Judith Lynn Monk Steube, who survives.
Mr. Steube was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in Vietnam, where he served as a commander and helicopter pilot. He was also past president and an active member of the South Boston Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Lee Barton Steube of Richmond and George Ernest Steube of South Boston and a granddaughter, Meleila Martinez of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Casper and William Steube and a sister, Estelle Steube Clay.
A funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Very Rev. Susan Grimm and the Rev. Dane Skelton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge cemetery with military rites.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Monday, May 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. and at other times at his home, 1725 Chamberlain Street, South Boston.
