Lloyd Meade Harrison Jr.

Lloyd Meade Harrison Jr., age 79, of McKenney, passed away March 11, 2014.
After graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1957, Meade began work in Halifax and Charlotte counties as a Tobacco Extension Agent. In 1958, he transferred to Mecklenburg and Brunswick counties and served in that same role until his retirement in 1990. He was a tobacco farmer himself and also raised cattle. He served on the board of directors for the Bank of McKenney for 20 years. He was an outdoorsman and avid quail hunter. He was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry and donated land for church grounds expansion.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Peebles Harrison and a son, Charles Holton Harrison.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ricks Harrison; two sons, L. M. “Buck” Harrison III and wife Sandra and Marion Peebles Harrison and wife Avery; a step-daughter, Theresa L. Jennings and husband Stephen; ten grandchildren, Meade Harrison, Winfield Harrison, Henry Harrison, Benjamin Harrison, Suzanne Harrison, William Harrison, Smith Harrison, Elijah Jennings, Grace Jennings and Sophia Jennings; his brother, William O. Harrison; and a sister, Virginia H. Nowlin.
A funeral was held Friday, March 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, with interment in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday, March 13, at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, which is in charge of arrangements.
