Hugh Myles Elliott

Hugh Myles Elliott, 68, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital.

Hugh was born Sept. 14, 1945 to the late Edgar Mason and Barbara Sizemore Elliott in Clarksburg, W.Va. An avid golfer, University of Virginia Cavaliers fan, member of the Clarksville Community Players and active with the YMCA and “Lakefest”, Hugh was the owner/operator of Elliott’s True Value Hardware and co-owner of Clarksville Water Sports.

Hugh is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Geno Taylor of Efland, N.C., special friend, Diane Ferrell of Clarksville; sister, Nancye E. McIntyre of Grafton, Ohio and brother and sister-in-law, Mason and Mary Ann Elliott of Asheville, N.C. His grandchildren, Olivia, Clint and Genna Taylor, as well as his beloved dog, Ellie, also survive.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m. (Hugh’s standing warm-weather tee-time and day) in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with interment to follow at Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
