Columbus Colin Davis Jr.

Columbus Colin Davis Jr., 71, of 7277 Brookneal Highway, Gladys died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at his home.

He was the husband of Nancy Wooldridge Davis. He was born July 22, 1941 in Wake County, N.C., a son of Virginia Parrish Davis of South Boston and the late Columbus C. Davis Sr. He was the owner and operator of Davis Fruit Stand in Gladys.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four sons, James Davis and his wife Jacquie of Gladys, Paul Davis and his wife Sheila of Rustburg, Randy Davis and his wife Sherry of Semora, N.C., and Ronnie Davis of South Boston; a daughter, Judy Davis and Alton Beadles of Nathalie; one brother, Robert Davis and his wife Brenda of Scottsburg; three sisters, Daisy Cheek and her husband Larry of Snow Camp, N.C., Mary Lacks and her husband Roy of South Boston and Ann Childress of South Boston; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

A funeral was held Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Wesleybury United Methodist Church by Rev. Bill Smith with interment following in the church cemetery.

The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider their local rescue squad.
