Catherine Ardell Day

Catherine Ardell Day, 83, of Clarksville, entered eternal rest Saturday Feb. 16, 2013 at her residence.

She was born in Mecklenburg County on Jan. 7, 1930 to the late Frank and Matline Hicks Fields. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, and was a member of New Light Baptist Church. There she served on the missionary circle, usher board, senior choir and head of the kitchen committee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Day, a daughter, Carrie Lee, three brothers, Paul, William and Roscoe and one sister, Maline.

Cherishing her memories are one son, Wilfred Lennie Day of Clarksville, three grandsons, Terence Fields and Darrell Fields, both of Richmond, and Keith Fields of Clarksville, one granddaughter, Angelia Fields of Bridgeport, Conn., one sister Elizabeth Bunch of New Jersey; eleven great-grandchildren; a special niece, Annette Durham of Clarksville, and a vast number of loving relatives and caring friends.

A funeral will be held Thursday Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. at New Light Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
