Halifax County Supervisors finalize 2012 budget on unanimous vote

Halifax County Supervisors on Monday evening approved a $86,216,400 county budget for 2011-2012 fiscal year on a 7-0 vote, with ED-3 Supervisor William I. Fitzgerald absent from the meeting. Board members also approved a resolution appropriating the money to support the annual budget.

Stapleton to retire as HCPS superintendent

The Tuesday morning announcement by Halifax County Superintendent of Schools Paul Stapleton that he will retire at the end of June 2012 caught school trustees by surprise. The School Board had scheduled a closed session on Monday to discuss extending the superintendent’s contract for another two years.

Long to seek re-election to Halifax County School Board
