Trustees accept Fuller resignation

SoVaNow.com / February 04, 2013
After nearly an hour of closed talks Thursday night with their attorney Craig Woods, members of the Halifax County School Board came out into open session and took only one action.

The Board unanimously accepted the resignation of former Meadville Elementary Principal Brenda Tune Fuller, in lieu of termination on the terms set forth in a confidential agreement.

The terms were not made public.

The former principal was removed from her post at Meadville in early September, and at that time it was announced that she would be changing places with Marliss Barczak, then an assistant principal at Cluster Springs Elementary School. (Barczak is currently serving as interim principal at Meadville.) Fuller was subsequently placed on administrative leave.

I think that as the public we have a right to know why this took place. School Board is quick enough to drag a teacher through the mud. Look at the aides that got into a fight. If you take public money, you should have to disclose this. IMO, I think she did a wonderful job as principal. She was nice to the parents etc. I had a child under her for several years. More Halifax politics.

Freedom of Information Act?????

I think there is a provision in FOIA so that government agencies can opt out when it is a employee issue. I hope that she will come forward and say something. Good principal let go because of politics.

Is this the case where they claim she was destroying boxes of documents late at night on school property? Been out of the loop for a while. Or is that just baseless gossip like most else in this county? Good thing they allowed her to resign in lieu of termination. She should have other job prospects now.
