According to police reports, a 1993 Nissan Altima operated by Brian Thomas Shortt, 31, of Liberty Road, Nathalie crossed the center line into the south-bound lane and struck a 2001 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Ruth Karen Smith-Leigh, 46, of West Oak Hill, Halifax.
With the impact, the Toyota was forced off the right side of the roadway, overturning and going down an embankment. Both Shortt and Smith-Leigh were transported by emergency services personnel to the local hospital for treatment of significant injuries.
