South Boston police identify individuals who died outdoors

SoVaNow.com / March 10, 2014

The South Boston Police Department on Thursday released the identities of two persons who were found dead last week outside of homes in South Boston, although foul play is not suspected.

One of the deceased was Walter Meadows, whose body was spotted on the porch of his Sixth Street home by a neighbor Tuesday. Police say poor health contributed to the demise of Meadows, who was 64.

On Wednesday, a resident of Hodges Street discovered the body of a woman lying in the grass of the front yard. The woman was identified Thursday as Lucy Majors, 59, of Nathalie.

The bodies of both individuals were sent to the state Medical Examiner in Richmond for autopsies.

Snow and ice also could have played a part of the deaths, authorities say, although no firm connection to the weather has been made.
