Second home near Halifax destroyed by Saturday fire
SoVaNow.com / March 03, 2014Firefighters found the home of Jimmy Reagan fully engulfed in flames Saturday morning around 3:30 a.m. as they reached the scene of the disaster, on Route 501 about four miles north of the Town of Halifax.
According to Halifax Volunteer Fire Department Chief Daryl Dawson, the frame house belonged to Sally Moore of Oxford, N.C. It was occupied by Reagan and his son.
The house, valued at $65,000, was a total loss. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, Dawson said.
The Halifax Volunteer Fire Department responded with four trucks and 14 firefighters, assisted by Liberty with three trucks and ten people, Triangle with one truck and three people, North Halifax with two trucks and six people, and Oak Level with one truck and three people.
Dawson said firefighters were on the scene until nearly 7 a.m. Saturday morning extinguishing the blaze.
