Sunday was no day of rest for South Boston firefighters, who rushed to two house fires: A small pile of burned debris rests on the lawn of this North Main Street home, where a blaze did an estimated $140,000 in damage. The owner of the house is listed as Thomas Eggleston and the occupants listed as John and Susan Follette. Damage to a Chamberlain Street address was considerable.

Crafting a business at the Holiday Living Show

Twelve-year-old Alexandra Reddy sells crocheted caps, capes, fingerless gloves, purses and scarves at the annual Holiday Living Show, sponsored by the Business Women's Association of Halifax County at the high school. The daughter of David and Susan Reddy of Halifax, Alex says she will use her profits to tithe to her church, save for a trip to Paris and do a little shopping.
