Snow brings holiday pace to a standstill

The on-again, off-again White Christmas that forecasters couldn’t make up their minds about did indeed come through for Mecklenburg County, giving the area the first actual Christmas snow since 1976, when, the National Weather Service says, the region got about an inch.

Freedom Fund/Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Banquet slated Jan. 17

The Mecklenburg County NAACP Chapter will be sponsoring its annual Freedom Fund/Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Banquet on Monday, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m. at VFW Post 7166, Highway One North, South Hill.
